How do I go about brainstorming a logo?

jcueland asked:

I’ve been given the task to design a logo for the manufacturing plant I work at. I have a budget of $0, which means I have to do this by myself. In looking online I see that there is software out there to do the actual design, but what I need help with is where to begin? In other words, where do I start? How do I get the creative juices going?

The Vision of our plant is Achieving Excellence Together - so I need to incorporate this into the logo, but I’m not sure how. Any ideas on how to begin this process would be greatly appreciated.

The main goal of creating a logo is incorporating your goals, values and vision into one centralized location ie; a logo.
The best way to create a successful logo is to throw a lot of ideas around and then merge the best of each.
Randomly freehand draw some ideas until you find something that you think is good and then show someone else to see what they think because what you think is good sometimes does not appeal to someone else and with things such as logos it needs to appeal to all.. good luck
