To foxspyfox:
WPSX [now WPSU] is PBS’ affiliate in Johnstown, PA, to be exact [although I think they put "Penn State" in the logo because that's where Channel 3's studis are]. And also, I don’t really know why that station and WIPB use the same synth music…

The WCET Cincinnati one looks to me like it was made in the 70s (we already know the WGBH Boston one was).
WLVT Allentown also has a very 70s-ish feeling to it, but because of the graphics it looks like early 80s. In fact, it seems easy to tell the “newer” ones apart from ones that were made in the earlier 80s, because of the more awkward graphics.
Interestingly, nowadays WNET New York doesn’t brand itself as “WNET” anymore—their logo is the big word “Thirteen” (as in channel 13).

Apparently. The question is, why?

Did they really use the same music for both Muncie and Penn State?

Like the WGBH one, eh? That one is still used today, albeit slightly differently. At least the WGBH logo is.

Well, read the title carefully. It reads “PBS Logo Demo circa 1989/1990″, which means that many of them could be from 1989.

the ominous synthesized music from the georgia public television logo in 58: is very scary, that it’s creepy enough to cause nightmares, but there are more scary logos than that.

I don’t think this is from 1990, judging by the PBS logo used at the start and the end. Probably 1988 or 1989.

Oh and one more thing. I dunno if anyone remembers this. But KET (The Kentucky Network) produced this really strange Adult Math program. It was definitely produced in the early 80’s, and just screamed 80’s. I remember seeing it on our local PBS station very early in the morning during their GED block. There was also this program called “Write Right”. i just wanna see if anybody remembers those.

I love the one used for WQED. I like how the skyline goes from day to night.
